Why Gracie Jiu-Jitsu

• One in six people will be the victim of a violent attack.
• One in four women will be the victim of a sexual attack in their lifetime.
• 95% of all violent attacks and street fights end up on the ground.
• 10% of victims of violent attacks do not survive the encounter.
• Albuquerque is classified as one of America’s most violent cities.

Now for the good news, you DO NOT have to be a victim. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is the only self-defense system in the world that effectively deals with self-defense on the ground. It doesn’t matter if you’re a man, woman, or child, nor does it matter if you are small, weak, strong, or “over the hill,” Gracie Jiu-Jitsu will give you the tools to defend yourself in a real world attack.

Founder Professor Helio Gracie is the mastermind behind Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. At 135 lbs. Grandmaster Helio modified the traditional jiu-jitsu to work based on technique and leverage rather than speed and strength. He is the father of the famous Ultimate Fighting Champion Royce Gracie.
Lion Academy is proud to be part of Team Tiger. This association was founded by Master Eddie Camden, 1st degree black belt under Professor Pedro Sauer. Professor Sauer is regarded by many to be one of the most technical jiu-jitsu instructors anywhere, a 6th degree black belt under Grandmaster Helio Gracie.

“Jiu-jitsu is first and foremost an art of combat, all the improvements that I made were with the goal of maintaining that objective.”
- Grandmaster Helio Gracie
