Wing Chun is an extreme close range Chinese martial art system. Officially the only system Bruce Lee ever studied completely. Emphasis in this art is on close range strikes, kicks, elbows, and relaxed power. This system gained extraordinary popularity in Hong Kong during the 1960’s and 70’s through the now famous Lut Sao bare-knuckle challenge matches. The two great teachers in Hong Kong during this time were Yip Man (Bruce Lee’s Instructor) and Jiu Wan (Francis Fong’s Instructor).

The system is broken down into three hand forms: Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Jee; the wooden dummy form or Muk Yan Jong form; the long pole or Luk Dim Boon Gwan; and the eight way knife form or Bat Cham Do form. Accompanying the forms training is extensive training in Wing Chun sticking hands called Chi Sao.

Lion Academy founder and Chief Instructor Justin Hall has trained extensively in the Wing Chun system since he was ten years old. His early training was under Grandmaster Francis Fong and latter at the age of sixteen Mr. Hall met and began to train with his mentor and greatest martial arts influence Master Eddie Camden. Justin Hall is a long time personal student of Master Eddie and is considered to be one of his most outstanding and highest ranked student. After completing the Wing Chun system with Master Eddie Camden, Mr. Hall flew to Hong Kong to study the Luk Dim Boon Gwan and Bat Cham Do under Grandmaster Yip Chun, Yim Man’s eldest son.

*Due to the highly technical nature of Wing Chun students are taught in a combination of private and semi-private classes
